Side. Penedés was founded in 1960.

The area where this Denomination of Origin is located is wide and open and extends along a large strip of territory between sea and mountains, halfway between Barcelona and Tarragona.

Three differentiated areas constitute the Denomination of Origin: the Penedés Superior (near the Pre-coastal Range), the Penedés Marítimo (next to the sea and in the Coastal Mountain Range) and the Penedés Central (between one and the other area).

The Penedés Denomination of Origin has a great diversity of microclimates, due to its coastal proximity and its altitude. The weather is typically Mediterranean, that is, soft and warm. The Penedés Marítimo area is more temperate due to the influence and proximity of the sea, the Penedés Superior enjoys more frequent rainfall and greater contrast between maximum and minimum temperatures and the Penedés Central is the compendium of both microclimates.

The diversity of wines with D.O. Penedés

The authorized White varieties are: Chardonnay, Xarel·lo, Malvasia, Parellada, Riesling, Gewürstraminer, Macabeo and Moscatell d´Alexandria.

And the authorized Red varieties are: Garnatxa, syrah, Monastrell, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Samsó and Ull de Llebre.
