Priorato

The Priority Denomination of Origin was recognized in 1954, and in 2000 it obtained the category of Qualified Denomination of Origin, being the second denomination to obtain it after Rioja.

It is located in the interior of Tarragona and is an area of volcanic origin, its base called llicorella is composed of reddish and black slate with small particles of mica. The continental climate with long, hot and dry summers, the temperature, however, can reach records below zero in winter. This gives a very marked singularity to wines with D.O.Ca. Priorat and that with the conjugation of vineyards of a high density and low yield of grapes per strain, they give us wines with a very high and unique quality.

In this denomination, red wine made with red grenache, samsó, hairy garnacha grapes predominates and to a lesser extent cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah grapes are used. The white wine that is made uses white garnacha, macabeo and pedro ximénez. Rose wine is also made, with grenache ink, and generous wine.
